Horsham bin man killed while working

A HORSHAM bin man died on Thursday when he was hit by his own refuse collection vehicle in St Andrew's Road, Southwater, at around 9.20am.
Councillor Liz Kitchen, the leader of Horsham District Council, said: "It is with the greatest sadness that I can confirm that a member of Horsham District Council's refuse collection team, Jason Maguire (34), who lived in Horsham, was killed whilst at work in the Southwater area this morning. He had worked for the council since 2005.
"This is a tremendous shock to everyone and our deepest sympathies go to his family and colleagues.
"Full details of the incident are being investigated and we are assisting the police and Health and Safety Executive with their inquiries."
Police are appealing for anyone who saw the accident or the refuse collectors in Horsham on Thursday morning to call them on 0845 60 70 999 quoting Operation Hatch.
