A COUPLE are making a second attempt to persuade councillors to give their seal of approval to a wildlife pond they have built in their garden.
The couple, of Highleigh Road, Sidlesham, created the water feature to increase the biodiversity in their garden and attract wildlife and insects – but they should have asked for the consent of district planners first.

A planning application seeking retrospective approval got the thumbs down from Chichester District Council earlier this year, so the couple have now revised them, taking out the decking which was one of the main concerns highlighted by planners.

They have also discussed the scheme at length with planners, who they claim have agreed in principle, and agreed to erect a post-and-rail fence around the western edge of the site to overcome concerns relating to the proximity of their home to the pond.

The couple are now hoping for the green light from the council.
