Cash incentives are a good idea

I think the idea of offering people cash incentives if they want to move into a smaller house is a good one (Crawley Observer, October 17).

I am lucky enough to be able to rent privately but I grew up in a three bedroom council house with my brother and sister.

My mum and dad still live in that house and it’s rather big and although they can manage now, in a few years it will be too much for them to keep up.

Being able to move to a smaller home will be perfect for them. But I don’t think £500 will go far when it comes to decorating and buying new carpets and curtains.
