Letter: Get rid of rail crossings

I read the article in your paper last week about the State of the Borough debate.

Last time I went to one of these debates I brought up a minor problem with potholes in the roads which ended up becoming a major issue and is still an ongoing problem.

This year I asked if the council would consider finding a way to get rid of the two remaining railway crossings in Crawley.

Apart from being antiquated and the scene of many deaths, when hold-ups on the motorway force more traffic into Crawley, our roads need to be able to cope, especially in the centre of town.

I have done many surveys in Crawley town centre and found many out-of-town shoppers.

That is good news for Crawley and more larger stores moving here will only increase the number of shoppers wanting to come into Crawley.

Maybe the council will officially answer all the questions asked through local papers when they have had time to look into all the questions. If I don’t get a reply to my questions I won’t bother going to these so-called ‘debates’ any more.

What was the question Chris Mullins wanted to ask? I know how frustrating it is when you are not allowed to ask a question. It does put people off going again.

Thank goodness there are so many people in Crawley that are so passionate about improving our town.

Also well done Crawley Town Football Club. Lets get more buses running up to the stadium on match days. Crawley is going to grind to halt if our transport problems are not addressed soon.

More buses, more cyclists and more walkers would be a good place to start.
