Reds stay top after 2-1 victory against Oxford Utd

CRAWLEY Town stay top of the
Blue Square premier after a 2-1 victory at the Kassam Stadium against Oxford United.




Crawley boss Steve Evans made one change to the side which beat Mansfield, bringing in Jon-Paul Pittman for the injured Lewis Killeen.

Reds fell behind after 17 minutes when ex Eastbourne Borough striker Yemi Odubade scored a penalty.

But Oxfor
d started to run out of steam and two goals in five minutes turned the game Crawley's way.

Reds equalised after 36 minutes with Jon Paul-Pittman's tremendous turn and shot from inside the area.

Five minutes later Jamie Cook put Reds in front with a close-range shot, after an initial header by Adam Quinn was cleared off the goalline by Adam Murray.

Crawley's defence stood firm during the second half restricting the home side to just a couple of chances before a late flurry in which goalkeeper Simon Rayner made a series of catches from crosses into the area.
