SURFACE improvements have started along Guildford Road, between Hillhouse Lane and Loxwood Road, in Rudgwick.

The £50,000 work involves repairing the carriageway's surface.

This will be followed by surface dressing next year, which will seal the road and improve the skid resistance.

Derek Whittington, West Sussex County Council's deputy cabinet member for strategic planning and transport, said: "The most affected parts of the road are being improved and it is good to hear that further improvements have already been planned for next year."

The work will last one week, depending on the weather, and will be done from 9.30am to 4.30pm, Monday to Friday.

For comprehensive coverage of all the stories making the local news, read Friday's edition of the West Sussex County Times newspaper. Website users who wish to purchase a copy of the County Times newspaper but live outside our circulation area can do so by telephoning 01403 751200 and asking for reception. The cost of the newspaper plus postage in England is £1.53 which can be paid for by credit card. Overseas rates are also available, on request.
