Fantastic summer season at The Hawth

THE Hawth's new Summer season has been unveiled, bringing a vast array of quality live productions from music and comedy to films, exhibitions and workshops.

Included are stand-up comedy from TV funny man Rob Brydon, Marion and Geoff, Little Britain, Have I Got News For You, QI, Gavin and Stacey and Grumpy Old Women Live 2.

Music to suit all tastes varies from opera with the Magic Flute (May 5) and Katya Kabanova (May 6) from English Touring Opera and the BBC Big Band (June 19) with guest vocalist Peter Grant, to award-winning folk singer Kate Rusby (May 8) and Crawley Folk Festival (June 26 to 28) with Paul Jones and Dave Kelly, Mawkin:Causley and Adrian Edmondson and The Bad Shepherds with a children's area, real ale tent and dance stage to boot.

The Crawley theatre complex also features blues from international treasure Hans Theessink (May 2), the master Doug MacLeod (June 10) and the ninth annual Blues Under The Sky (July 11), showcasing more than four hours of the best blues around.

For jazz fans there's Time Zone's high-energy style on May 22 and Liane Carroll's broad repertoire on June 5.

Again the Hawth's partnership with the Royal Philharmonic Orchestra continues with Here Come The Classics (May 10) and Noisy Kids – It Came From Outer Space (May 10) for younger listeners.

More for young audiences includes Rapunzel And The Tower of Gloom telling a story of split ends and tangles (May 9), Room On The Broom (May 23), and the return of Angelina Ballerina's Big Audition (June 9 and 10) plus an adaption of Michael Rosen's We're Going On a Bear Hunt (July 1 and 2).

Great theatre includes the tragic and comical The Man Who Was Hamlet with award-winning George Dillon (May 8), Edinburgh Festival favourite I Miss Communism (June 12) and Bill MacIlwraith's The Anniversary (May 27 and 28).

The Vagina Monologues also returns with its hilariously-witty and moving collection of stories from women (June 18) and the dramatic musical Blood Brothers runs from May 25 to 30.
