Crawley’s lost building

Recognise these faces?

Recognise these faces?

THIS picture is a bit of a mystery and would never have come to light if it wasn’t for a ceiling which needed repairing.

The snapshot of school life was brought in to the Observer office by Rosemary Peters.

It was found by workmen who were repairing the ceiling in her daughter’s bedroom in Goffs Lane, West Green.

There is no clue as to which school these young people were attending, although the back of the photo is stamped ‘Meech’s’ and dated February 1959, meaning everyone in the picture is likely drawing a pension by now.

Also, a couple of the lads on the back row appear to have matching logos on their blazers.

Rosemary said: “We are curious to who the photo belonged.”

Does anyone know which school or club these children were attending when the picture was taken?

Are you the former resident of Goffs Lane who mislaid the photo all those years ago?

Or perhaps you are one of the people in the picture. Either way, we’d love to hear from you.
