Misery reaches the stage

You’ve read the novel, you’ve watched the movie, now see the stage play. Adapted from Stephen King’s award-winning novel by Simon Moore, Misery is a dark and twisting tale which enthrals the audience from the very beginning to its climactic and unexpected end (Sunday, December 2, 7.45pm, The Hawth Studio, Crawley).

Popular romance novelist Paul Sheldon retires to Colorado to write the final work in a successful series featuring his heroine Misery Chastain.

Driving whilst inebriated he loses control of his car. He regains consciousness in a dilapidated farmhouse which is cut off from the outside world in a blizzard. His legs crushed, he can rely only on the woman who saved him, Annie, his number one fan.

First performed by Blue Orange Theatre in 2011, the production is an intense and emotional thriller. The original cast, Toni Griffiths and Darren Haywood, reprise their roles of Annie Wilkes and Paul Sheldon respectively, under the guidance of original director Oliver Hume for their performance at The Hawth.
