Schoolgirl Charlotte John was inspired by the courage of her brave nan as she walked 27 miles through the night to help raise money to combat the scourge of cancer.
Ann John, from Haywards Heath, the wife of former long-serving Hassocks Football Club manager Dave John, is fighting breast cancer after being diagnosed in January 2007.
Fans of the football club know Ann for her catering work at the club's Beacon ground and the delicious cakes she had baked over the years.
But to Charlotte, a pupil of Oakmeeds Community College at Burgess Hill, Ann is better known as the nan who will not give in without a fight.
Charlotte and mother Sarah signed up for last weekend's Playtex MoonWalk through London, although a foot operation meant that family friend Sue Parminter had to step in for Sarah.
