Carp poachers with a taste for eastern European cuisine are reeling in a rich haul in Mid Sussex waters.
The cheeky thieves are even stopping to barbecue their illegal and expensive catches.

People described as of eastern European origin are targeting areas such as the beautiful lakes at Borde Hill, just outside Haywards Heath.

The poachers have also been reported at a part of Ardingly reservoir near the Balcombe road and at the Mill Pond near Burgess Hill.

Tim Johns, of the Burgess Hill Angling Centre, said: "Stealing carp has always been going on. Eating them has started since the eastern Europeans came, but not all of them are involved.

"We get a lot of eastern Europeans in here and we always tell them they must return the fish to the water. But it is a delicacy to them. They have all been warned but they still do it.

Police, who have so far not made any arrests, warned this week that taking the fish to eat was theft.
