A FORMER brothel in Scaynes Hill could be demolished to make way for new family homes.

The site at Hamshaws in Sloop Lane, was bought last year by Scandia Hus, designers and suppliers of energy-saving homes.

At a meeting of the planning committee at Mid Sussex District Council today (October 2), members will decide whether to allow existing buildings to be demolished to make way for four new detached houses.

The council has previously refused an application for a 70-bed nursing home to be built on the site. However, Scandia Hus, based in East Grinstead, is confident new homes will be the best move for the community.

The former Club Liberty in Sloop Lane made the headlines after villagers hired private investigator Richard Clarke to pose as a new member to the swingers club.
