HAYWARDS Heath's main pool will re-open this Saturday, September 6, after workmen repairing badly corroded pipes finished ahead of schedule.

There were fears that the pool, at the Olympos Dolphin leisure centre, would not re-open until mid September.

That date was revised to September 8 last week but engineers have put in long hours to complete the work as close to the start of the school term as possible.

The refurbishment of the pool, which was built 32 years ago, has cost Mid Sussex District Council about £90,000 after engineers had to use diamond cutters to drill through a metre of solid concrete to reach the corroded pipes.
