SPECTACULAR flames lit up Haywards Heath Fire Station at the weekend – but there was no need to panic as it was all part of an emergency services open day in the town.

The police, ambulance and fire service joined forces to promote safety awareness and provide a fun day for all ages on Saturday August 30.

Fire safety drills involved brave volunteers being carried from buildings and attended to by emergency services.

There were dramatic flames when firefighters showed the dangers of chip pan fires and how they tackled them and basic first aid and road safety advice was also on offer.
