A DISAPPEARING dog has been admitted to BBC3's Dog Borstal for some canine correction.
Three-year-old husky, Storm, has been embracing his natural roaming instincts – leading his dog walker on four-hour chases, ripping up gardens and lunching on pricey footwear.

And now Janine Eaglestone, of Woodland Dogs, reckons the mischievous mutt needs some ruff justice if he's going to stay out of trouble.

She has signed the 'lovable delinquent' up for a stint at a doggy boot camp – and the results will be screened on the cult TV show Dog Borstal.

She said: "We're not entirely sure it's going to work. He's a husky, they're pack animals and as leader of the pack he'd have to roam and try to find food.

"He never completely disappears and always stays within view which makes it even more frustrating because you can see him but you just can't get him to come back.

"My assistant was tracking him for two hours on one occasion and only managed to catch him by rugby tackling him in a pond – she got absolutely soaked.

"We call him a lovable delinquent – four out of five times you let him off the lead he will be fine but on the other occasion he will just keep walking."

I am saddened to see that the owners feel the need to send this dog to Borstal. It is a husky, its instinct tells it to run & hunt!! Why not do the responsible thing and allow the dog to do what it does best; WORK!!! Dog Borstal is a 'safe' environment for the dog to be let off lead and taught recall, however, trust me when the dog is let off lead and see's e.g a sheep instinct will take over and it will kill it given half a chance!! No matter how much training you do with a husky instinct is stronger and it will run....see Harborough Mail; husky shot by farmer for chasing sheep & recent case of 7 year old husky killed when hit by a car when it failed to recall!! I hope the owner of this dog doesn't learn the hard way!!!
