Parliamentary hopeful Henry Smith couldn't resist a swipe at town MP Laura Moffatt following Labour's drubbing in this year's elections.
In a statement issued to local media he commented on her non-appearance at the K2 count, saying: `Perhaps she was hiding under the bed'.

In his statement, he writes: "The result has been excellent for the Conservatives, picking up three seats from Labour and one from the Liberal Democrats.

"I think this is a reflection on how well the Conservatives have led Crawley Town Hall these past two years and a damning verdict on Gordon Brown's failure to speak up for Crawley folk, particularly over the abolition of the 10p tax rate.

"As ever the Crawley vote count was exciting but I was surprised that Laura Moffatt didn't show up to support and commiserate with her candidates, one of whom was her husband. Perhaps she was hiding under the bed."

Election counts are a time for politicians to stand together and i think it is typical of an MP who tries to win extra support through tattoos to not be there to support the Labour candidates, perhaps she is reminded of the narrow victory she had in the General Election.

If the WSCC Leader, Henry "Wannabee MP" Smith, wants to know why Laura "Crawley MP" Moffatt was not present at the election count, perhaps we (the council taxpayer) will want to know why Cllr Smith's WSCC Cabinet Member for Finance & Resources has unexpectedly been replaced ?
