Elections: Tory hopeful takes swipe at MP
Parliamentary hopeful Henry Smith couldn't resist a swipe at town MP Laura Moffatt following Labour's drubbing in this year's elections.
In a statement issued to local media he commented on her non-appearance at the K2 count, saying: `Perhaps she was hiding under the bed'.
In his statement, he writes: "The result has been excellent for the Conservatives, picking up three seats from Labour and one from the Liberal Democrats.
"I think this is a reflection on how well the Conservatives have led Crawley Town Hall these past two years and a damning verdict on Gordon Brown's failure to speak up for Crawley folk, particularly over the abolition of the 10p tax rate.
"As ever the Crawley vote count was exciting but I was surprised that Laura Moffatt didn't show up to support and commiserate with her candidates, one of whom was her husband. Perhaps she was hiding under the bed."
