THE DAD accused of holding a businessman hostage at gunpoint will face a re-trial after a jury failed to return a verdict.
Lester Deakin, 46 from Broadfield and John Venn, have been on trial for the last week at Hove Crown Court – accused of threatening to kill Patrick Kelly and chop up his body as part of a £27million blackmail plot.

The jury of eight men and three women retired yesterday afternoon to make a decision, but after a whole day of discussions announced they could not reach an agreement.

Deakin and Venn will face a new trial in January next year.
