Manor Green fundraising target
STAFF and pupils at Manor Green Primary School are campaigning to raise funds for new equipment at their school.
The Ifield school is calling on local businesses and residents to support them in a push to upgrade their facilities.
Headmaster David Reid, explained: "We are trying to raise funds to complete the playground and make it fully inclusive and to include the children who are wheelchair users. We are also raising funds for a new minibus for the children so these are two big projects."
The school has already raised a whopping £100,000 but still needs to raise £22,000 for the playground and a further £13,000 for the minibus.
Mr Reid said: "We like a challenge and we are very optimistic that we will raise the money and Crawley has always been very good to us."
The school has a series of open days coming up and is inviting businesses from Crawley and Horsham to come along and see if they could sponsor a piece of equipment for the school which has helped hundreds of local children. Mr Reid said: "We want to make sure that the whole school is fully inclusive so that every child has access to all of the equipment.
"The children will be able to have a lot more fun and enjoyment out of the equipment and with the minibus we will be able to show them the wider world."
The schools team of trained and enthusiastic staff help the children to achieve as normal and independent lives as possible.
BAE have already offered their support and the school has applied for funds through other Gatwick based charities.
Manor Green pupils are aged between two and 11 and their needs vary from very mild problems to profound learning difficulties.
The school are holding a raffle with the fantastic prize of staying in a luxury apartment in central London. Tickets are priced at £5 and are available from the school.
