A Sussex Police officer was taken to hospital on Thursday afternoon (20 March) after his patrol car was rammed by a Mitsubishi Shogun involved in an earlier incident at Bolney.
The Shogun had been spotted speeding off from a building site at Bolney following the theft of a disc cutter at around 12.25pm.

About 25 minutes later the vehicle was seen in the Crawley Down area and shortly afterwards was involved in the incident with the police car near the Dukes Head roundabout.

Following treatment for minor injuries at North East Surrey Hospital, the officer was allowed home later in the day.

Police are appealing for anyone who witnessed any of the incidents or who saw a brown Mitsubishi Shogun between Bolney and Crawley Down around these times to contact them on 0845 60 70 999 quoting reference 657 of 20/03/08.

It is believed the vehicle may have later headed north towards Surrey. Alternatively, you can contact Crimestoppers anonymously on 0800 555 111.
