A THOMAS Bennett school girl was knocked down by a car at a bus stop.
Gayle Ayling, 11, of Brettingham Close, Bewbush, was walking her friend to a bus stop in Gasson Wood Road when at 7.25pm on Sunday when the accident happened.

Gayle's dad, Gregory Ayling, said: "She'd just gone out to the main road to walk her friend to the bus stop, on the way back she crossed in front of the bus and was hit by a car doing about 20 miles per hour.

"She was really very lucky I think, she was taken to hospital as a precaution and only suffered a few cuts and bruises. It could have been a lot worse.

"Gayle was in shock at the time so they took her in to give her x-rays but she's fine now, just a few scrapes."

Gayle went back to class on Tuesday (May 20) with a few cuts and bruises.

A spokeswoman for South East Coast Ambulance Service, said: "Crews were called to Brettingham Close at 7.25pm on Sunday. An 11-year-old girl was taken to East Surrey Hospital."
