Crawley apprentices met the Energy Minister.
Lord Bourne visited EDF Energy’s Crawley offices in Pacific House, Three Bridges, on Monday (March 14) and joined apprentice Sam Barrow at a smart meter intallation at a customer’s home.
Sam, EDF Energy’s Smart Metering Apprentice of the Year, said: “Becoming an apprentice gives you a wider range of opportunities within a big company like EDF Energy.
“On the apprenticeship scheme, we all learnt how to work as a team and support each other which has given me a foundation for success as a meter operative.”
Lord Bourne said: “It’s fantastic to meet young people here in Crawley who are so focused and committed to a future in the energy sector with EDF Energy.
“As we start Apprenticeship Week 2016 it’s becoming increasingly clear that many people now see apprenticeships as a route to a successful and rewarding career. It’s also great to see companies like EDF Energy continuing to offer apprenticeships so that the future workforce are equipped with the skills, confidence and qualifications required to join the energy industry’s next generation.”
