A caravan has been destroyed and barn and horse cart damaged by arson.

Nine fire crews were called to farmland off Holtye Road, East Grinstead, at 11.15pm on Tuesday (October 27).

A spokesman for West Sussex Fire and Rescue Service said fires were started deliberately in three locations in the farmland.

A 20m by 10m barn containing a differ and 50 tonnes of straw was well alight by the time crews arrived.

The second fire destroyed a caravan and 10m of hedgerow.

A horse cart was badly damaged by the third.

Crews, from East Grinstead, Turners Hill, Lingfield, Burgess Hill, Haywards Heath and Crawley, used seven hoses to put out the fires.

They were stood down at 2.17am.
