The Roman Catholic Bishop of Arundel and Brighton visied Our Lady Our Lady Queen of Heaven School in Langley Green recently sharing his family experiences of war and his own experience as Bishop of the Armed Forces.

Teacher Irene Archer said: “He told us of the sad story of Charles and his grandmother who fell in love before World War One, but whilst fighting, Charles was unfortunately killed. This was not the end of the love story for Edith who later went on to marry Charles’ brother, Ernest. Bishop Richard shared with us some of his memories as Bishop of the Armed Forces and some of the inspirational people he has met along the way. It was very interesting to hear about Bishop Richard’s role and see some of the artefacts he has collected, particularly the bayonet.”
