Bomb squad called after grenade found in Crawley

The bomb squad was called to Crawley after a Second World War hand grenade was found in a garden in Bewbush.

A spokesman for Sussex Police said officers were called to Pegwell Close at around 4.05pm on Sunday (March 9) after the grenade was found.

He added: “The grenade was left where it was found and the bomb disposal unit arrived and carried out a controlled expolosion at 6.10pm.”
