Biking it to an award

THE number of youngsters cycling to lessons at Milton Mount Primary School has gone up and, as a result, the school has been presented with an award.

Only three other schools in town have received the Level Three Travelmark, an accreditation scheme operated by West Sussex County Council which recognises schools which have made good progress with their school travel plans.

Bev Clayden, from the council’s Safer Routes to School, congratulated the children on their efforts, which came about thanks to the Bike-It campaign.

Nicky Clubb, Milton Mount business manager, who helped to develop the school travel plan, said: “As our school expands we are aware of the possibility of increasing road traffic in the local area. We want to encourage as many children as possible to walk, cycle or scooter to school. Our bike sheds are always full and our new scooter storage will be available next term.”
