New design course is looking for learners, volunteers and businesses
A NEW project which aims to get young people and adults involved in creative design activities in the community is being launched.
Be Cre8tive is a partnership between training provider Third Sector Research Solutions and West Sussex County Council Adult and Community Learning Service and is aimed at unemployed 18-to 24 year olds.
It hopes to attract learners on to the six-week course at Ifield and Thomas Bennett community colleges which will run three afternoons a week between 1pm and 5pm. The six start dates are: Monday February 13, Monday March 26, Monday May 1, Monday June 11, Monday August 6 and Monday September 17.
The activities range from accredited easy web design, computing (ECDL) printing and the development of local enterprises Work Integration Social Enterprises (WISEs).
Organisers hope the project will prepare young people for work, enhance their CV and build confidence.
The project is also looking to recruit and train volunteers who will become digital supporting the young people.
Local businesses are also being sought to develop a partnership with the aim of developing supply chain opportunities linked to the projects which are created from the initiative.
