Volunteer stewards needed for St Patrick’s Parade
PREPARATIONS are being made for this year’s St Patrick’s Day Parade and organisers are looking for volunteers to help the day run smoothly.
The 9th annual parade will be held on Sunday March 18, starting at the Crawley Station car park at 1pm before weaving its colourful way through the town centre and hopefully ending up in the High Street.
The event is being organised by the Celtic and lrish Cultural Society (CICS), in association with Crawley Borough Council and Sussex Police with support funding from the lrish Govemment and will inlcude marching bands, floats, vintage and classic cars, motorcycles, dancing schools, sports clubs and fancy dress.
Once the parade reaches its final destination, there will be live music, Irish step dancers and local musicians to entertain people into the evening.
Organiser John Nolan said: “The aims of the parade, apart from having fun or having the ‘craic’, is to encourage Crawley’s diverse and vibrant community to participate in a greater understanding of Celtic and lrish traditions.”
John and his team are looking for volunteers to work as stewards. Training will be given.
