A food challenge has been set for people, businesses and community groups across West Sussex to eat local.
The West Sussex Way Food Challenge has been launched by the West Sussex Environment and Climate Change Board and is open to everyone to get involved in.
The idea is that until the end of July, people increase the amount of local vegetables, eggs and milk that they eat - as well as making the most of the early fruit crops.
The West Sussex Environment and Climate Change Board brings together a number of organisations from across the county to ensure the challenge of climate change is recognised and addressed in West Sussex.
Its membership includes Environment Agency, The Southern Co-operative, Southern Railway, Viridor as well as West Sussex County Council.
Rosemary Moon, from the West Sussex Environment and Climate Change Board, said: “The West Sussex Way is not to worry about how much of individual ingredients you are eating - we’d just like you to try to make local veg and eggs, with some fruit, between 40-60% of what you eat.
“West Sussex is officially the sunniest county in England. It has some of the best light, which makes it a great growing county. Many of our food crops are grown under glass in huge greenhouses, but there are also plenty of vegetable growers, farm shops and market gardens producing delicious vegetables and salads.”
