A shake-up of health services in Crawley has caused ‘confusion’ - according to councillors.

Currently plans could see the walk-in health centre moved from Cross Keys House to Crawley Hospital, while Saxonbrook Medical is looking at a proposal to move its Northgate surgery to Cross Keys House.

Leacroft Medical Practice was based in Cross Keys House last year while repairs to the roof of its surgery, in Langley Drive, took place after storm damage in December 2013.

At a meeting of Crawley Borough Council’s Overview and Scrutiny Commission on Monday (February 9) councillors felt there was some confusion about where patients currently registered with a GP at Crawley Health Centre would be relocated to.

While some members said they understood some replacement GP services would be based at Crawley Hospital, others had been told the roughly 3,500 patients would be accommodated in surgeries around the town.

Members also asked if these patients would be able to register with Saxonbrook Medical if they did relocate to Cross Keys House. Cllr Chris Cheshire (Lab, Bewbush) said: “Obviously there is confusion over it and we must clarify it.”
