The lift at the K2 leisure centre has been out of order since mid-June and will not be fixed for several weeks.

Freedom Leisure, which operates the centre on behalf of Crawley Borough Council, said the closure was due to a “series of problems”.

A council spokesman said: “We are disappointed at the length of time the lift has been out of order and are working with Freedom Leisure to rectify this issue.”

Cllr Chris Cheshire (Lab, Bewbush), who uses a wheelchair, has called for compensation and reimbursement for fee-paying members of the leisure centre.
