A young man from Crawley has been accepted into a prestigious acting school in Los Angeles.

Daniel Harris, 20, from Langley Green, secured his place at The American Academy of Dramatic Arts (AADA) last Friday (October 9).

The school is known for its string of famous alumni, including Grace Kelly, Robert Redford and Danny DeVito.

Daniel, a former student at Holy Trinity CofE School, will be studying Associated Acting for two years, followed by BA qualification at a specialist institution, The Antioch University.

After a terrifying audition in London, the aspiring actor secured his place just six days later.

He said: “Words couldn’t describe it, I was at work during my lunch break, that shift couldn’t go quicker.”

Daniel was adamant to pursue his dream after he attended a nine-day acting programme in June, the Hollywood Immersive, where aspiring actors have the chance to train in Los Angeles for a week with top industry experts.

He said: “I absolutely loved it, I felt like Hollywood and LA were my home, I had to do something to get back.”

Daniel was trained by a drama teacher from the Hollywood Immersive for his AADA audition in London.

He added: “I got a $13,750 scholarship (£8,906), which was absolutely incredible.”

Speaking of his future career Daniel said: “I would love to stay in America and work in TV and film.”

While working hard to achieve his dream, Daniel has set up a fundraising page on GoFundMe to raise more than £21,000 for his tuition fees before heading to LA in January .

He has raised £385 in just two days.

On his page, Daniel said: “Between now and January I plan to work and do everything in my power to come up with the funds.”
