A Crawley man has been banned from the roads for 17 months after he was caught drink-driving.

Off-duty taxi driver Michael Ricketts, of Caburn Heights, was arrested at 1.25am on June 20 in Hazelwick Avenue, Crawley, after an alert motorist saw him driving his Skoda Superb with no lights on and called police.

The 54-year-old pleaded guilty to drink-driving when he appeared at Crawley Magistrates’ Court on July 8.

As well as being banned from the roads Ricketts was also fined £110 and ordered to pay £235 costs and a £20 victim surcharge.
