Crawley Festival hopes to benefit from final committee meeting

Grants of more than £13,000 will be considered by the East Crawley County Local Committee (CLC) at its final meeting.

Crawley Festival will be one of the organisations hoping to benefit from the meeting, which will be held in the Longley Room at Crawley Library at 7pm on Wednesday March 1.

The festival committee has asked for £3,333.30 from East Crawley and £2,666.70 from West Crawley to help pay for this year's Mainstage event, which will be held in the Memorial Gardens on the final day of the festival.

The IMPACT Tasty Team, which promotes healthy eating, has asked for £2,222 from East Crawley and £2,778 from West Crawley to pay for cookery training courses.

The 7th Crawley Scout Group has asked for £3,397 from East Crawley and £4,246 from West Crawley to help them reinstate a garden area and provide wheelchair access to its HQ in Furnace Green.

Crawley United Reformed Church, in Pound Hill, has asked for £2,500 to build a disabled toilet.

And the Worth Parochial Church Council has asked for £2,500 to pay for flooring and the refurbishment of toilets.

East Crawley CLC was allocated £24,000 for the 2016/17 financial year, of which £10,851.63 was allocated before Christmas. A £4,000 mid-year reduction in the funds available to the committee saw it left with £9,148.37.

The applications to be considered on March 1 amount to £13,285.70.

The East and West Crawley CLCs will be combined in the new financial year.

The final meeting of the West Crawley Group will be held on Monday March 13, then the first meeting of the combined Crawley County Local Committee will take place on Thursday June 29.
