Crawley man charged with drink-driving on Christmas Eve

A Crawley man is among the latest group of 15 motorists who have been charged as part of Sussex Police’s Christmas crackdown on drink and drug-driving.

Benjamin Freer, 21, was arrested at 2.30am on 24 December after officers stopped him in Marion Road, Crawley.

Freer, of Marion Road, Crawley, was charged with drink-driving and driving without insurance. He was released on bail to appear at Crawley Magistrates’ Court on 14 January.

Ashley Hayes, 26, was arrested at 2am on 24 December in Ivyhouse Lane, Hastings, after officers were called to a report of a suspected drink-driver.

Hayes, of Pottingfield Road, Rye, was charged with drink-driving, driving without insurance and driving without a licence. He was released on bail to appear at Hastings Magistrates’ Court on 18 February.

Christopher Squires, 28, was arrested at 1.50am on 24 December after a car overturned in Lickfold Road, Fernhurst.

Squires, of School Lane, Lodsworth, was charged with drink-driving, driving without a licence and driving without insurance. He was released on bail to appear at Crawley Magistrates’ Court on 6 January.

Sylvester Caulker, 44, was arrested at 3.50am on 24 December after his vehicle was seen being driven erratically in London Road, St Leonards.

Caulker, of Magdalene Road, St Leonards, was charged with drink-driving, driving without a licence and driving without insurance. He was released on bail to appear at Hastings Magistrates’ Court on 18 February.

Josephine O’Rourke, 49, was arrested at 6.45pm on 24 December after she was stopped by officers in Bexhill Road, St Leonards.

O’Rourke, of Alma Villas, St Leonards, was charged with drink-driving and released on bail to appear at Hastings Magistrates’ Court on 18 February.

George Hannah, 18, was arrested at 2am on 25 December in Susan’s Road, Eastbourne, after he was seen driving the wrong way down a one-way street.

Hannah, of Queen Elizabeth Close, Battle, was charged with drink-driving, driving without a licence and driving without insurance. He was released on bail to appear at Hastings Magistrates’ Court on 18 February.

Danielle Malley, 28, was arrested at 2am on 25 December in Nuthurst Place, Brighton, after she was seen driving a car with a flat tyre.

Malley, of St Michael’s Road, Portslade, was charged with drink-driving and possession of a knife. She was released on bail to appear at Brighton Magistrates’ Court on 19 February.

Karis Hands, 27, was arrested at 3.25am on 25 December after officers saw her driving erratically in College Road, Eastbourne.

Hands, of Alexandra Road, Eastbourne, was charged with drink-driving and released on bail to appear at Hastings Magistrates’ Court on 18 February.

Hugo Sousa, 37, was arrested at 6pm on 25 December after he stopped at a green traffic light in Marine Parade, Worthing.

Sousa, of St Augustine Road, Littlehampton, was charged with drink-driving and released on bail to appear at Crawley Magistrates’ Court on 6 January.

Lorraine Foster, 49, was arrested at 11.45pm on Christmas Day after she was seen driving erratically on the A27 at Falmer.

Foster, of Newells Close, Brighton, was charged with drink-driving and released on bail to appear at Brighton Magistrates’ Court on 20 February.

Lewis Hines, 24, was arrested at 1.35am on Boxing Day after officers found a car parked on the Bridge Road roundabout on the A259 at Littlehampton.

Hines, of Horsham Road, Littlehampton, was charged with being drunk in charge of a motor vehicle and released on bail to appear at Crawley Magistrates’ Court on 7 January.

Adam Kalus, 28, was arrested at 9.20pm on Boxing Day after a crash on the A21 at John’s Cross.

Kalus, of Northfield Road, Waltham Cross, Hertfordshire, was charged with drink-driving and released on bail to appear at Hastings Magistrates’ Court on 18 February.

Charles McCormack, 36, was arrested at 10.40pm on Boxing Day after officers stopped his car in Market Road in Battle.

McCormack, of Rye Road, Sandhurst, Kent, was charged with drink-driving and released on bail to appear at Hastings Magistrates’ Court on 18 February.

Danny Fuller, 29, was arrested at 2.45am on 27 December after officers stopped his car on the A259 at Eastbourne.

Fuller, of Kirkstall Close, Eastbourne, was charged with drink-driving and using a mobile phone at the wheel. He was released on bail to appear at Hastings Magistrates’ Court on 18 February.

Linas Strikauskas, 43, was arrested at 2.25pm on 27 December at Tanbridge retail park in Albion Way, Horsham, after members of the public suggested he could be drink-driving.

Strikauskas, of Foundry Lane, Horsham, was charged with failing to provide a specimen for analysis and released on bail to appear at Crawley Magistrates’ Court on 14 January.
