Rhys Murphy started alongside James Collins upfront and had two early chances.

A volley from the outside of the boot flew narrowly over the bar while a breakaway attack involving Conor Henderson and Enzio Boldewijn holding the ball up well, ended in Murphy firing well wide.

For Crewe, George Cooper forced Glenn Morris to make a low save and Jordan Bowery scuffed a tap-in wide from eight yards.

Both sides had to make early substitutions on 22 minutes for injuries to defenders. Josh Yorwerth came on for Mark Connolly while at the other end, Perry Ng replaced George Ray.
