CRAWLEY Wasps Ladies have earned themselves a dream tie against mighty Crystal Palace in the Women’s FA Cup.

It will be a daunting task as the Eagles are a full-time professional side linked to the main Palace academy.

They play in the South Eastern Combination League which is two levels above Wasps’ part-timers who compete in the London & South East Regional League where they currently lie fifth out of 12 teams.

Wasps booked their place in the Third Qualifying Round thanks to a thrilling 3-2 victory away to Eastbourne Town at the Saffrons on Sunday.

Two goals by Emma Jaymes plus a late 83rd minute winner by Holly Walker got them through.

In the first qualifying Round they beat Kent side Meridian 5-0.

The two games combined mean Wasps have already won £300 prize money and could win an extra £225 if they can perform a David and Goliath act.

The tie will be held on Sunday, November 13 at Crystal Palace Park, Thicket Road, London. SE20 8DT.

Boss Paul Harding is planning to hire a minibus to take the players and extra fans this tie could attract.

He said: “It’s going to be tough but we play with no pressure. It will be good experience but we’ll still be going for a result.”

There will be a clash of loyalties for Wasps coach Gary Barton who is a lifelong Palace fan.

Harding said: “Gary won’t know who to support, so he is threatening to wear his Palace colours from the dug-out while shouting at our girls!”
