The following are results from Sussex (Northern) Magistrates’ Court sitting at Crawley and Horsham:

Gordon Cooper, 46, of Lumley Road, Horley, was fined £600, with a £60 victim surcharge, £610 costs, and six penalty points added to his licence. He had been convicted in his absence of failing to identify a driver suspected of committing an offence.

Davie Walkes, 42, of Black Dog Walk, Crawley, was fined £130, with a £20 victim surcharge, £150 costs, and six penalty points added to his licence. He had pleaded guilty to driving without insurance.

Jovone Raffington-Paul, 18, of no fixed address, was given a one year conditional discharge, with a £20 victim surcharge, a £180 criminal courts charge, and a £50 fine. He had pleaded guilty to possessing cannabis in Crawley, and to failing to answer bail.

Shaun Hayden, 18, of Wold Close, Gossops Green, was given an 18 month conditional discharge, with a £15 victim surcharge, £85 costs, and a £150 criminal courts charge. He had pleaded guilty to using threatening or abusive words or behaviour in Horsham, and breaching a conditional discharge for causing criminal damage.

Leanne Andre, 43, of Friars Rookery, Crawley, was banned from driving for a year, given a community order with 90 hours of unpaid work, a £60 victim surcharge, and £750 costs. She had been found guilty of dangerous driving in Crossways and Gales Drive, Crawley.

Patrick Maughan, 65, of Perth Close, Crawley, was given a community order with £100 compensation, a £15 victim surcharge, and £200 costs. He had pleaded guilty to two counts of assault, and been found guilty on one count of racially aggravated common assault.

Leon Peck, 24, of The Link, Crawley, was fined £100, with £100 compensation, a £20 victim surcharge, and £85 costs. He had pleaded guilty to common assault.

Craig Whittaker, 28, Mannings Close, Crawley, was fined £400, with £110 compensation, a £40 victim surcharge, and £85 costs. He had pleaded guilty to stealing cash in Crawley.

Angela Baxter, 31, of Linnell Close, Crawley, was given a one year conditional discharge, with a £15 victim surcharge, and £85 costs. She had pleaded guilty to stealing food from Morrisons in Crawley, and to obstructing a police constable.

Joseph Smith, 19, of Glebe Road, Cuckfield, was fined £140, with a £20 victim surcharge, and £60 costs. He had pleaded guilty to using racially aggravated threatening or abusive words or behaviour to cause harassment, alarm or distress in Crawley; using threatening, abusive or insulting words or behaviour to cause fear of violence in Haywards Heath; and breaching a conditional discharge.

Ryan Higson, 27, of Letchworth Court, Bewbush, was jailed for three months, with an £80 victim surcharge and a £180 criminal courts charge. He had pleaded guilty to nine counts of shoplifting (from Horsham, Crawley, and Gatwick Airport) and to failing to answer bail.

Raymond Baptiste, 50, of Drayton Waye, Harrow, was fined £73, with a £20 victim surcharge, £50 costs, and a £180 criminal courts charge. He had pleaded guilty to stealing two pairs of designer sunglasses from a shop at Gatwick Airport.

Simon Robinson, 36, of Evelyn Walk, Crawley, was fined £500, with a £50 victim surcharge, £85 costs, and six penalty points added to his licence. He had pleaded guilty to driving without insurance.

Simon Harris, 41, of Godden Green, Sevenoaks, was fined £600, with a £60 victim surcharge, £85 costs, and six penalty points added to his licence. He had been convicted in his absence of driving without insurance in Crawley.

Mohamed Niyas, 45, of Woodcourt, Crawley, was fined £120, with a £20 victim surcharge, £85 costs, and three penalty points added to his licence. He had pleaded guilty to two counts of driving with a defective tyre.

Sumon Ahmed, 20, of Binstead Close, Crawley, was fined £130, with a £20 victim surcharge, £85 costs, and six penalty points added to his licence. He had pleaded guilty to speeding on the A23 at Handcross.

Elvis Smedins, 34, of Caffins Close, Crawley, was banned from driving for six months, fined £1,800, with a £60 victim surcharge, £85 costs, and six penalty points added to his licence. He had been convicted in his absence on three counts of failing to identify a driver suspected of committing an offence.
