Crawley crime round-up: Tools stolen from vans and purse taken

Police were called after a purse was stolen from a kitchen at a sheltered housing complex.

The theft, on February 10, was reported by a warden at the Dyers Almshouses, in Northgate Road.

A spokesman for Sussex Police said one of the residents left the door to her flat unlocked while she visited the communal area. When she returned, the purse had been taken from her kitchen.

Witnesses or anyone with information are asked to contact Sussex Police on 101 quoting serial number 0630 of 10/02.

l Tools were stolen from four vans during break-ins in the town centre, Three Bridges, Ifield and Tilgate between February 8 and 13.

The first vehicle targeted was parked in a car park in The Broadway between February 8-10. Contact Sussex Police on 101 quoting serial number 0586 of 10/02 if you have any information.

The next van was owned by Sandman Signature hotels and was parked in Tinsley Lane on February 10 when the tools were taken. The police serial number is 1545 of 10/02.

A Peugeot van parked in Duncton Close was broken into on February 12 and a selection of tools were taken. The police serial number is 0235 of 12/02.

Tools were taken from a van belonging to Sports Den, in Tilgate Place, on February 13. A spokesman for Sussex Police said there was no sign of forced entry and it was believed the tools could have been taken while the driver was off-loading some rubbish.

l Several vehicle fell foul of vandals in the past week.

A stereo, USB holder and Tom Tom were stolen from a VW Polo parked in Caburn Heights, Southgate, on Monday (February 16). The police serial number for this crime is 0573 of 16/02.

A Sat Nav and in-car webcam were stolen from the glove box of a car parked in Sheffield Close, Furnace Green, on February 16. The police serial number is 0036 of 16/02.

The tyres of a car parked at Sage House, Tinsley Lane, were slashed on February 12 (serial number 1377 of 12/02) while a Citroen Berlingo van parked at Goffs Park Premier Lodge on the same day had its window and rear lock smashed. Nothing was stolen and the police serial number for this crime is 0129 of 12/02.

A silver Peugeot 206 was stolen from Dingle Close, West Green, between 4.30pm on February 8 and 11.30am on February 9. The police serial number is 0533 of 09/02.

l And finally, a kettle was stolen after a thief broke into a cabin on a building site in Crawley.

Police were called after workers at the site in Gemini Close, Bewbush, discovered the cabin had been ransacked on Monday (February 16).
