A woman suffered serious injuries after a dog chased a horse in Tilgate Forest.

A police spokesman said she was thrown off the horse in the Golden Mile area at about 3.30pm on Saturday (February 27).

He said: “The horse was startled by a large black dog which gave chase, resulting in the rider being thrown from the animal.

“The dog is described as large and black - bigger than a Labrador - and wearing a silver collar.

“A man was with the dog but did not stop to assist the rider, who was taken to hospital with back injuries.”

Anyone with any information was asked to contact police on 101@sussex.pnn.police.uk or call 101, quoting serial 596 of 01/03.
