A man was punched several times in a road rage incident outside a town centre shop.

Police said two men, one driving a silver Honda CR-V and the other a campervan, became involved in a dispute while travelling along London Road in East Grinstead last Thursday (March 16).

The driver of the Honda was reported to be shouting and threatening the other driver.

As the pair approached a set of traffic lights outside the Millets store police said the Honda driver got out and punched the campervan driver, who was still seated, several times. Both vehicles then drove off.

The incident took place at about 4.15pm.

The Honda driver is described as white, 6’, thin and his 30’s, and was wearing shorts.

PC Richard Wooding of Crawley Investigations said; “Witnesses reported bring shocked and concerned by this behaviour. So far neither driver has reported the incident and we particularly need to contact the man in the van to see how seriously he was hurt.

“We are asking both drivers, and anyone else who saw what happened, to contact us via email 101@sussex.pnn.police.uk quoting serial 696 of 16/03.

“You can also report online to https://sussex.police.uk/contact-us/response-to-appeal/ or call 101.”
