Police are appealing for witnesses after an armed robbery in Northgate last week.

Sussex Police say the man stole cash after threatening a member of staff with a knife at the Corals betting shop in The Parade, Northgate, Crawley, at about 10.15am on Wednesday (6 May).

The man jumped over the counter and forced the staff member to open the till and the safe. He ran off with about £650 cash.

Detective Sergeant Sian Harding said: “This was a nasty attack and has left the member of staff very shaken.

“We need to speak to anyone who saw what happened or saw the man ran off from the shop.”

A 21-year-old man of no fixed address, who was arrested on suspicion of robbery and possession of an offensive weapon, has been released on bail until July 9 pending further inquiries and a 25-year-old man from Crawley arrested on Monday May 11, also on suspicion of robbery, has been questioned and released on bail until July 12.
