Six arrested after man attacked in Crawley High Street

Police have appealed for witnesses after a man was set upon by a group of people in in Crawley High Street.

The 44-year-old victim was knocked to the ground and punched and kicked in an unprovoked attack near a taxi rank outside United Taxis in the early hours of Sunday morning (August 23), said Sussex Police.

A spokesman said six people had been arrested, two women, aged 22, and four men aged 18, 31, 29 and 27, on suspicion of assault occasioning actual bodily harm and affray.

They were bailed to October 17 for further enquiries.

Detective Sergeant Sian Harding said: “This was a vicious and an unprovoked attack and we are appealing for anyone, who was in this busy area and witnessed what happened, to contact us on 101@sussex.pnn.police.uk or the independent charity Crimestoppers on 0800 555 111, quoting serial 46 23/8.”
