Update: Five arrested after Crawley helicopter pursuit

Five Crawley men have been arrested over possession of cannabis with intent to supply following a helicopter search and police raids.

The helicopter and a police dog unit were called after a moped driver allegedly failed to stop for police, said the National Police Air Service’s Twitter account.

A police spokesman said: “Police, acting on intelligence, seized a moped in Broadwood Rise, Crawley, at about 3pm on Sunday (29 May).

“The NPAS police helicopter assisted in the search for the vehicle and two people, who identified themselves as the rider and the pillion, were arrested.

“Officers executed search warrants at a number of address in the area, which led to the arrest of three further suspects.

“A 19-year-old man from Crawley, arrested on suspicion of possession of cannabis with intent to supply and theft, has been bailed until 31 July pending further enquiries.

“A 21-year-old man from Crawley, arrested on suspicion of possession of cannabis with intent to supply, has been bailed until 31 July pending further enquiries.

“A 19-year-old man from Crawley, arrested on suspicion of possession of cannabis with intent to supply, has been bailed until 31 July pending further enquiries.

“A 20-year-old man from Crawley, arrested on suspicion of possession of cannabis with intent to supply, has been bailed until 31 July pending further enquiries.

“A 19-year-old man from Crawley, arrested on suspicion of possession of cannabis with intent to supply and failing to stop a vehicle when required to do so by a police officer, has been bailed until 31 July pending further enquiries.”
