A woman who was found injured in a Crawley lay-by has described her attacker.

Police are appealing for witnesses to an assault on an 18-year-old woman near the Ibis Hotel, London Road, Crawley, between 10.30pm and 11.50pm on Monday (June 2).

Police found the woman injured in a lay-by near County Oak Retail Park. She was treated at hospital for a cut on her head and fractured ribs.

The woman told police a man grabbed a drink from her and hit her before walking off.

She described him as white, 5ft 4in, aged 40- 50, and of skinny build. He had dark brown shoulder length hair with stubble and a left black eye. He was wearing combat trousers and a brown jacket.

Acting Detective Sergeant Daniel Gower said: “We would like to speak to anyone who might have been in the area at the time and may have any information about what happened that night.
