Don’t miss the annual Haywards Heath Town Day all day today, which this year coincides with celebrations to mark the 175th anniversary of the first train to Haywards Heath.

From 11:30pm today Victoria Park will be full to the brim with more than 80 stalls and pitches. A variety of charitable stalls will be selling their wares to fundraise for their cause. A number of local companies will also be exhibiting to raise their local profile.

The funfair will have a Victorian feel with old fashioned rides to mark the 175th celebrations. The Mewes Vets will be running their ever popular ‘Great British Bark off’ dog show, so don’t forget to register your dog at 12 noon for a chance for them to be a star in the dog show Parade.

A climbing wall will test concentration and fitness skills of all climbers.

Younger audiences can laugh along with Jonathan Cann’s traditional re-telling of the Punch and Judy story, as well as watch magic and even try their hands at baloon modelling.

Once Town Day ends at 4.30pm an outdoor cinema will be set up in the park by Haywards Heath Community CIC to screen a showing of the ‘Railway Children’ film.

The festivities will end in explosive fashion with fireworks at 9pm.

A full programme will be available on the day. For more information, contact the Town Hall on 01444 455694 or email fatima.mirza@haywardsheath.gov.uk
