Reds drew 0-0 at Aldershot Town this afternoon in their final pre-season friendly and the head coach was satisfied with another ‘good workout’.

Injury and illness ruled out Jason Banton (slight groin) and Jordan Roberts (tonsillitis) which did impact on Reds attacking game, but Drummy saw the positives.

He said: “I thought we got pushed for the intensity of the game and the mentality. They were good at what they did going in behind us and causing us problems.

“We had to defend to the hilt, so from that aspect I thought the concentration was good.

“They had a lot of free-kicks and set plays which I wasn’t quite happy with, we shouldn’t be giving them away.

“Chances wise, I thought Mark (Connolly) and Enzio (Boldewijn) could have put the ball away. On the whole, with no injuries, it was a really good work out and we showed the mentality to keep a clean sheet.

“I was not disappointed in the first half effort and ability to press in midfielder, because they were very good at that as well.”

Josh Yorwerth came into a midfield role and Bobson Bawling also earnt a start, with Yusuf Mersin playing the whole 90 minutes in goal.

When quizzed on his selection for next week, Drummy said: “It leaves me in terms of watch this space, Tuesday we will play (in-house game) and Jordan (Roberts) and Jason Banton will come back.

“I am pleased with lots of aspects of the play, but I am not going to say who will start, because we have a week to go yet.

“The week first of all holds a break, we will all go home tonight and seee our families. Sunday and Monday we relax, we will come in Tuesday for speed testing, have a game amongst ourselves on the pitch and Wednesday and Thursday, some tactically preparation and Friday will be preparation for Wycombe.”

Drummy also revealed Reds had missed out on a loanee, who had opted to go elsewhere this week as a result of not being a guaranteed starting place, but the club is hopeful to add a signing this week.
