St Wilfrid’s Catholic School had its best ever results, with 21 per cent of grades being an A or A*.
Headteacher Michael Ferry said: “St Wilfrid’s are delighted to announce record-breaking results, and despite last year’s predictions that results would drop this year, this year’s pupils have made significant achievements, which goes against such predictions.
“This continued rise in standards, and particularly the significant rise in the numbers of students receiving higher grade passes, is testament to the hard work of both students and staff, as well as to the continued support from parents.
“Once again the results show that students at St Wilfrid’s have made outstanding progress, not just in the sixth form, but since they started Year 7.”
Eighty-two per cent of grades were a C or better, 43 per cent were at least a B, and 21 per cent were an A or A*
