Maria, who also fundraises for charities including the Crawley Hospital League of Friends, said: “It means a great deal when they get to read and write and doing their drawing is a great pleasure. Some of them cannot speak so it means a lot to them.”

She is hoping to collect 100 colouring books to give to the pupils before they break up for Christmas.

Maria is also collecting quality raffle prizes for the school’s annual dinner dance next month.

Any business or individuals wishing to donate should call her on 01293 403432 before the end of November and she will arrange collection. People can also take them to Crawley Hospital foyer making sure they are clearly address to Maria.

People are invited to the school’s annual fair on Saturday November 28, 12noon to 3pm.
