Families the joys of being by the seaside on Saturday as the town’s Queens Square was again transformed into an urban beach.

In the latest in a series of events organised by Crawley Borough Council arts development team, shopper enjoyed a traditional ‘Beside the Beach’ day Punch and Judy shows, hoola hoop performers as well as 1950s live music and infectious dance routines.

There was also fun in County Mall shopping centre where shoppers had the chance to win a tropical holiday in a two-day gameshow event.

With hundreds of prizes up for grabs from blow up flamingos to perfume from the Fragrance shop, every player went home with a prize or offer.

Some were lucky enough to pick ‘fast track tickets’ and were entered into a free prize draw for £2,000 worth of holiday vouchers.

Twenty fast track winners returned on Sunday to find out if they were the winners. Reshma Coowar from Redhill who was visiting with her niece walked away with the top prize.

When her name was announced, the crowds cheered and clapped. Reshma was completely overwhelmed.

When asked how she felt, she said: “I’m going to cry!”

Centre Manager, Mark Haynes, said: “It was a fantastic weekend and a great way to end the summer celebrations here at the County Mall. We were overjoyed that so many people took part in the competition. A huge congratulations to our holiday winner Reshma! We’re delighted to have such a happy winner and we really do hope she has the holiday of a lifetime. We look forward to inviting Reshma back in to the centre for an official prize presentation next week.”
