Fire which destroyed vans ‘believed to have been started deliberately’

A fire which destroyed three vans in Horley is believed to have been started deliberately, say police.

Police and firefighters were called to Balcombe Road at 4am today (May 15)after a fire, which is believed to have started in the bin area at the rear of the Khush Boo restaurant, spread to the vehicles.

A spokesman for Surrey Police said detectives from East Surrey CID were investigating the fire.

Investigating officer Detective Constable Karen Scholey, said: “At this stage in the investigation we are making a number of enquiries to establish how this fire was started.

“At the moment it is believed the fire may have been started deliberately but this has not been confirmed which is why we need anyone with information to contact us as a matter of urgency.”
